İç Mekan Tasarımı Dersi V Final Projesi | Final Project for the Interior Design V Course
This project proposes the transformation of Tantavi Warehouse in Konya into a ballet academy by reinterpreting the building’s spatial potential. The main design approach preserves the industrial character of the structure while adapting it to an interior atmosphere suitable for ballet education. The warehouse’s wide-span plan, high ceilings, and rhythmic roof structure form the conceptual basis of the design.
The main hall acts as the focal space. Its wide and uninterrupted volume is maintained and adapted into a stage and training area suitable for performance examinations and large choreography rehearsals.
Stone walls and the steel roof structure express the building’s industrial identity, while newly introduced surfaces use a simpler and more neutral language. This creates a deliberate contrast between the historic shell and the contemporary interior layer. Light-toned wooden flooring responds to the physical requirements of ballet while reflecting light and enhancing spatial brightness.
Furniture and interior elements are kept minimal to preserve freedom of movement. Studio spaces emphasize openness and movement, while the cafeteria and lounge areas introduce a softer social atmosphere through upholstered seating, round tables, and warmer tones.
Lighting design reinforces the spatial atmosphere. Homogeneous general lighting ensures clear visibility of dance movements, while linear fixtures highlight the rhythm of the roof trusses. Social areas employ warmer lighting to create a more relaxed user experience.
